With the temperature at -3F and a wind chill factor of -30F, all I can do is dream of warmer days at the Chicago Botanic Garden. But as my dear old Mum, ever the optimist, always used to say, “Never mind, dear! We’re one day closer to Spring.”

I actually like shooting in the cold and snow. Hate the shoveling though – lol. My only problem is the batteries don’t last long. But, I also look forward to spring by the end of a long winter. As your mum said “one day closer!” Nice images!
Thanks, Steve! Everything in moderation. I would probably miss not having a change of seasons, and winter is ok as long as it doesn’t drag on for too long. There was a time, many years ago, when I would think nothing of standing up to my knees in snow in the freezing cold for hours, in order to take pictures of whatever wildlife ventured out in such weather. These days, my winter shooting expeditions are of a much shorter duration and much more cautiously undertaken.
Lovely summer / spring shots, Sue!!
Thanks, Indira! We had another 6″ of snow last night and they’re talking about -50F wind chills on Wednesday so right now even 40F and sunny would look and feel good.
Looking forward to sitting somewhere beautiful in the sunshine just like your lovely photos.
Thanks, Marianne! Spring can’t come soon enough now, after a heavy dose of snow and soon-to-be historic low temperatures tonight.
Just seen the weather forecast for USA on our news! Keep warm and take care but take a few beautiful snowy photos too!
Will do, Marianne.
I lovely hint of pleasures to come.
If we can survive this week’s weather, we’ll have earned a little bit of Spring. -21F here this morning.
It looks as though it is going to be terrible for you. Take care
Thanks, Tom! We’re well prepared. Hopefully it will only be like this for a few days.
I could sit anywhere here…lovely benches. One day closer…
Thanks, Ann-Christine! Hard to imagine that if you were sitting on any of these benches for more than a few minutes right now you’d probably suffer from hypothermia. Nature can be brutal sometimes!
😦
A few nice places there to sit and contemplate, Sue.
Yes! I am so looking forward to being able to spend some time there again but I think it’s going to be a while.
So I hear, Sue. Stay warm. The practicalities of getting around in all that snow are mind-boggling to me.
Gorgeous pictures. I hope you have an early spring.
Thank you! It can’t come soon enough for me!
