This week, Tina has chosen Cold as the subject for the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge. There was a time, not so long ago, when I would have thought nothing of standing around in the cold capturing images at the nature center. These days it’s almost impossible to convince myself that it’s worth the effort to put on fifty layers of clothing and risk slipping on the ice just for a few pictures, which is why I had to go some way back in the photo files to find these, taken at Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg.
With you all the waySue! Love these
Thanks, Tina!
The final photo is absolutely classic! Makes me yearn for winter!
Thanks, Chris! All these chilly scenes still can’t beat sitting in the shade in the stands at Wrigley Field during an April game, with a fierce wind blowing in off the lake. Never felt so cold in all my life. Give me a snowy day on the farm any day.
I hope to wait as long as possible before being able to take shots like that.
It came far too early this year.
well your digging int he archives paid off. – 🙂
the trio sync well and the tall, tall tree middle photo is my fav here –
Thank you! It’s amazing how even the most beautiful places can seem very bleak on a cold winter’s day.
So true 😊
You made me all chilly now! Love the tree and the barn in the snow is very Christmassy!
Thank you, Marianne! I love taking pictures at the farm in every season. The red barn always stands out so nicely, especially in the snow.
Now you had me longing for it…♥
Winter weather is alright as long as I don’t have to travel around in it. Driving to the grocery store and the library is about my limit when it gets really icy, unless there is a very important reason to go further.
I agree…and it is very icy here now, so I cannot walk with my mother right now.
Excellent.
Thanks, John!
I did the same thing Saturday…putting on 50 layers of clothing and walked up to the mailbox. It’s a wee bit over a mile from our house. I took my little camera with me. I’ve got to get used to living in this climate.
That red barn is just lovely!
After England’s moderate climate, I find it very difficult to adjust to the extremes in temperature here in Chicago even after nearly 50 years. I always feel like that kid in The Christmas Story when I go out in the winter, all bundled up.
LOL! That’s how I’ll be as winter goes on and I bundle up more I’m sure.
excellent submissions for the theme!!
Thank you so much!
