This week, Ann-Christine has suggested Memorable Events as the topic for the Lens-Artists Photo Challenge. This is usually the time of year when I have a hard time coming up with fresh material so it’s nice to be able to go back into the photo files for this one, although I still prefer to share images that haven’t been used before. It’s always satisfying to know that a day’s shooting has been reasonably successful and last year I had some memorable moments at Brookfield Zoo when I was fairly confident that I’d come away with at least a few good shots.
During much of the pandemic, the gorilla enclosure had been closed so I cheated a bit with the first shot, capturing instead an image of the new statue that had just been installed near the entrance.
Excellent close look on these wonderful animals, Sue!
Thank you, Indira! Can’t wait for the weather to warm up so I can get back to Brookfield.
Wonderful portraits of all those magnificent animals and bird. I love the seal(?) such a doleful expression, stunning eyes and beautiful coat but they are all lovely!
Thank you so much, Marianne. I had a great time last year visiting Brookfield and hope to get back there just as soon as the weather improves.
Look forward to seeing photos of Brookfield 2022.
Your confidence was not misplaced. A fine set.
Many thanks, Tom!
Great shots 📷
Thank you so much!
You are most welcome 🥰
Gorgeous photos, Sue. I see you like orang-utans too. It probably won’t surprise you that the African hunting dog is on my very long project list.
Thank you, Tracy! Yes, I love watching the orangutans. I often wonder what they are thinking about us, they have such fascinating expressions on their faces. And the African hunting dog would make a wonderful subject for your gorgeous mosaic creations.
It is bittersweet to see them, don’t you think? My friend does a lot of fundraising for the Orangutan Project. We may well be seeing the last of them, Sue.
Since I am currently averaging only two mosaics a year, I’m not sure I’ll get that far down my to do list.
Excellent portraits, Sue! You have caught them in some special moods as well – not just ordinary portraits, but with a soul. Love especially the orang-utans and the yawning (?) dog!
Many thanks, Ann-Christine! The African hunting dog was probably yawning, although I like to think that it was enjoying a good joke.
;-D
Beautiful photos. Sloth bear?
Thank you, John! Yes, you’re right. It is a Sloth bear.
👏 I went to a Nat Geo presentation on The Secret Life if Bears and learned there are 8 species of bears, with several subspecies, such as Grizzly sub of Brown. Fascinating animals, but not to be cuddled!
definitely not, with those claws!
Superb clicks, Sue!! Amazing!!!
Thank you so much, Jyothi!
Wonderful portraits Sue – those white Tigers (??) are gorgeous and the bear is unlike any I’ve seen. Do you know it’s particular species? Terrific choices for the week.
Thank you, Tina! The snow leopards are a big attraction at Brookfield. And the Sloth bear always looks to me like it’s having a bad hair day.
Sue, thanks for the many smiles with your excellent animal portraits – oh my goodness some of them really tug the heart
Thank you, Yvette!
I love your zoo animal shots. Well done Sue!
Many thanks, Anne!
