It may be getting a little too chilly to be sitting about outside now, but when I was at the Chicago Botanic Garden recently it was perfect weather for Pulling Up A Seat and enjoying the view.
And of course, the wildlife don’t really mind where they sit. Any convenient spot in the sun will do.
It may be a while before I get to take pictures like this again. Things are getting so bad in Illinois, with the virus, that they are asking us to voluntarily stay at home whenever possible for the next three weeks. It would be easy to ignore the warning, goodness knows we all dislike being cooped up indoors for any length of time, but if using our common sense now means that we may be able to relax the rules when Christmas comes around, then let’s make the effort now. And this means wearing a mask when you do have to go out. Most people here in the Chicago area are pretty good about doing that, but it only takes the few who aren’t to really mess things up. So stay well, keep safe and PLEASE spare a thought for others.
Hooray!! Cantigny Park in Wheaton opened up to the public again this week. I arrived there early in the morning yesterday, ahead of all those who, like me, were longing for somewhere other than their own gardens to visit. What a treat! We all managed to get around while keeping a safe distance and there were plenty of Seats available.
With everything that’s been happening around our house over the past few weeks, I haven’t really had much time to Pull Up A Seat and relax but we did visit Olbrich Gardens in Madison, Wisconsin where I found a few seats that I wouldn’t have minded trying out if we hadn’t been chasing after four very energetic youngsters who didn’t want to stay in one place for more than a few minutes.
There wasn’t much time to Pull Up A Seat at the Chicago Botanic Garden yesterday. There was just so much to see and photograph, but there were a couple of benches that caught my eye because of the colorful flowers nearby. It was a gorgeous day (a rare treat in what has been an extremely rainy month) so I felt like I needed to make the most of it. Lots more flower pictures to come in future posts.
It’s been a while since I’ve been able to Pull Up A Seat and sit down in any comfort outside, but the weather was just right the other day at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle. There is no shortage of conveniently placed seating at the Arboretum. Whether you’re looking for somewhere to rest on the many trails, in the children’s play area, overlooking Lake Marmo or any one of the many other picturesque spots, you will be sure to find a sturdy bench, rocking chair or swinging seat.
With the temperature at -3F and a wind chill factor of -30F, all I can do is dream of warmer days at the Chicago Botanic Garden. But as my dear old Mum, ever the optimist, always used to say, “Never mind, dear! We’re one day closer to Spring.”
Winter is hardly upon us and already I’m looking forward to next spring. It’s too cold to sit anywhere but indoors at the Chicago Botanic Garden right now, but I can imagine how pleasant it will be when I can once again enjoy the warmth of the sun and feel the gentle breezes as I sit back and relax in some of my favorite spots in the Garden.
One of the great things about the Chicago Botanic Garden is that there is no shortage of places to sit. Whether you like basking in the sun on sitting in the shade, there is a perfect spot for you. Here are a few images in response to the Pull Up A Seat Photo Challenge over at Photo Challenge of places we sit…or might sit…or art about sitting.
