This week, Patti has chosen Filling the Frame as the subject for the Lens Artists Photo Challenge and my first choice for this particular challenge was Mount Rushmore. I say ‘first choice’ as I work mostly with zoom lenses and most of my photo shoots include close-ups so don’t be surprised if you see another entry from me later in the week. Thanks, Patti!
Wonderful series!!!
Thanks, Indira! We were lucky to have such nice weather on our trip there.
Gorgeous images.
Thank you!
Very cool! Have seen lots of photos of MR but never such close-ups. Well Done
Thanks, Tina! We took the path along the base of the Mount which gave a perfect opportunity for close-ups.
Excellent closeups…lots of oohs and aahs from me and hubby!
Thank you, Marianne! Everything seemed to work well that day. The camera was in a good mood and even the sun was shining in the right direction.
We thought they were excellent shots and we’re sure it had something to do with the clever and talented photographer too.
Thanks, Marianne, for the kind words.
Wonderful close-ups! I’ve seen Borglum’s work up close in his studio, but never Mt. Rushmore. Thank you!
Thanks, Patti! It’s always a thrill to see these amazing works of art up close, just like the horse at Meijer Garden.
Very true.
That is a definitely a case of seeing the bigger picture.
It certainly gave me a better appreciation of all the work that went into these sculptures.
Wow. Excellent study. Fascinating place, none quite like it. (Crazy Horse is trying.)
Thanks, John! We saw the Crazy Horse Monument while we were on that trip but weren’t quite so impressed, although it is still a work in progress. I’d be interested to see what it looks like now. It’s been a few years since we were there.
Wonderful close ups.
Thank you so much!
Stunning images when you get close! Magnificent!
It’s hard to imagine just how awesome these sculptures are until you get a closer look at them.
Great pictures – they give a wonderful impression of what it must be like to be able to see them. Perhaps one day!
Thank you, Susan! I never fully appreciated what a spectacular sight this is until we were actually there to see it for ourselves.
Great images! It’s been over 30 years since I saw it in person. It’s amazing, isn’t it? I wouldn’t mind seeing again one day.
The first time we visited, we hadn’t even really planned on going there. We just happened to be in the area. We were so impressed, we went back again a few years later. And yes, I wouldn’t mind another trip there.
What a great post. I have seen very seldom posts presenting Mount Rushmore. Thank you.
Happy and safe travels’1
Thank you so much! Wishing you happy and safe travels, too.
This was fun to see the different full frame angles – usually do not see this and good idea to feature it for LA this week
Thank you! I’m glad we were able to get a closer look at this monument by taking the path around the base. Nothing like getting up Washington’s nose!
Haha / nothing like getting up in that grill! Ha
